STEP-BY-STEP PROCEDURE TO EXECUTE A POWER OF ATTORNEY IN QATAR FOR PROPERTY IN INDIA
Step 1: Draft the POA Document
Prepare the Power of Attorney in Word format, clearly specifying the powers being granted, the details of the property, and the particulars of both the Principal (you) and the Attorney (your representative in India).
Step 2: Print the Document
Print the POA draft on plain A4-size paper (preferably 80 GSM or higher for clarity and durability).
Step 3: Affix Photograph
Paste your recent passport-size photograph on the POA document.
Step 4: Notarization or Embassy Attestation
Schedule an appointment with either:
- A registered notary in Qatar, or
- The Indian Embassy or Consulate in Qatar.
Sign the POA in the presence of the notary or embassy official. The official will then attest the document.
Step 5: Courier the Attested POA to India
Send the attested POA document to your Attorney in India via a reliable courier service.
Step 6: Adjudication of POA in India
Your Attorney must carry the following documents to the jurisdictional District Registrar’s Office (DRO) in India for adjudication:
- Original attested POA and one photocopy
- A request letter for adjudication
- Identification proof of both the Principal and the Attorney (preferably Aadhaar or Passport). If the POA is being issued to a blood relative, the ID proof should establish the relationship
- Stamp Duty Challan (as per the applicable rate in the respective state)
