Required Documents:
- Joint Photo of BRIDE AND BRIDEGROOM
- Identity Proof: Aadhaar or Passport or Driving License
- Address Proof: Aadhaar or Passport or Driving License
- Age Proof: Birth Certificate or School Leaving Certificate (SSLC)
- Marriage Proof: Wedding Invitation Card or Kalyana mandapa receipt
Kaveri Online Services is the official website for marriage registration in Karnataka. Registering the Marriage on Kaveri Online Services is very simple and easy because the design is self-explanatory and user-friendly navigation, you can log into the website and follow the institutions to complete the registration process. We recently facilitated the marriage registration for one of my client and sharing my experience, Marriage registration on Kaveri Online Services consists of eight pages, they are:
- Declarations
- Marriage Details
- Bride Details
- Bridegroom Details
- Witness Details
- Review Summary
- Upload Documents
- Make Payment
Below, we explained each page in detail
CREATE AN ACCOUNT: To start the process, open Kaveri Online Services website, here is the weblink https://kaveri.karnataka.gov.in/landing-page , create an account using your Name, Age, Gender, email ID and Mobile number Your email ID is your username and Password will be sent to your email. Login using your Username and Password
DECLARATIONS: On the Home page, click on START A NEW APPLICATION, refer to the arrow mark in below image
Click on MARRIAGE REGISTRATION, refer to the below image
Click on HINDU MARRIAGE, refer to the below image
In Prerequisite for Marriage Registration, Click on Continue. Refer to the below image
Click on Hindu Marriage ONLINE, refer to the below image
Check the Declarations and click on Continue, refer to the below image
MARRIAGE DETAILS:
- Upload the Joint photo of BRIDE AND BRIDEGROOM,
- Select Date of Marriage
- Enter the Place of marriage
Click on Continue
(As per the Kaveri Online Services, the joint photo specification is B2 measurement + PNG Format + 2673 * 1890 pixel
For this specification, most of the photo studios provide a file size of around 4MB whereas the max file size on Kaveri is only 2MB
I tried an online file compressor to reduce my file size from 4MB to 2MB, but most of the compressor also reduces the pixels. Kaveri Online Services was not accepting photo less than the specified pixel of 2673*1890 in PNG format so I had difficulty uploading photo less than 2MB
After an hour of internet search, I found a compressor that helped to reduce the file size without compromising the pixel, here is the weblink for your reference https://imgcentury.com/image-compressor/compress-png/
I wish Kaveri Online Services would have given the max file size of 5MB instead of 2MB)
BRIDE DETAILS: Enter the following information about bride
- Name
- Date of Birth
- Age
- Mobile number and Email ID
- Current Address
- Permanent Address
- Father Name and Mother Name
Click on Continue
BRIDEGROOM DETAILS: Enter the following information about bridegroom
- Name
- Date of Birth
- Age
- Mobile number and Email ID
- Current Address
- Permanent Address
- Father Name and Mother Name
Click on Continue
WITNESS DETAILS: We need at least three witnesses. Enter the following information about Witness
- Name
- Date of Birth
- Age
- Mobil Number and Email ID
- Gender
- Current Address
- Permanent Address
- Witness related to (Bridegroom or Bridge)
- What is the witness's relation(Father, mother, brother, sister, friend, other)
Click on Continue
(Similarly, we need to enter the details of two more witnesses)
REVIEW SUMMARY: Select the Sub Registrar Office from dropdown list, refer to the below image
Review the summary report for corrections before submitting it to sub-registrar office. Refer to below summary page
Check the Declaration and Click on View Form 1 and Form 1A. Refer to the arrow mark in the above image
Click on Download to download MEMORANDUM OF MARRIAGE
Click on Esign
Bride, Bridegroom and three Witness Esign the application. refer to the below Esign page
Esign is based on the Aadhaar-based OTP authentication. Refer to the below image
(In case the witnesses are living in different locations, you may telecall the witness, collect the OTP and authenticate the Esign)
After the Esign, click on Continue, refer to the below image
UPLOAD DOCUMENTS: We need to upload the following document
- Identity Proof: We uploaded Aadhaar in PDF
- Address Proof: We uploaded Aadhaar in PDF
- Age Proof: We uploaded SSLC mark certificate in PDF
- Marriage Proof: We uploaded wedding invitation card in PDF
Click on Submit
We submitted the application on 17th July 2024 at 9.25 pm, waiting for Sub-registrar office response. Refer to the below submission
I received SMS notification that our application has been submitted to sub-registrar office
On 19th July 2024 at around noon, the application status changed to “Make Payment” Clicked on Make Payment and paid the government fee of Rs. 25. Refer to the below transaction page
After the payment, the status shows “Submitted for approval”, refer to the status in below image
On 20th July 2024 at noon, I received below SMS notification that marriage registration is successful. Refer to the below image
Signed into Kaveri Online Services and clicked on "MARRIAGE REGISTRATION". Refer to the below image
Clicked on “Download Signed Copy”. The Marriage Certificate is downloaded in PDF. Refer to the below image
Below is the Marriage Certificate
NOTE:
- We can get the Hindu marriage certificate without visiting sub-registrar office. As the complete process is online
- The price of the above Hindu marriage certificate is just Rs.25 including all (since the complete process is contactless there are no other hidden costs)
- We got the above marriage certificate within 3 working days
- For special marriages, the application process is online and the application process is very similar to the above explained. But we need to visit the sub-registrar office to complete the final step in Special marriage registration
